This study was conducted to develop the experience of tourism programs in fishing villages. We investigated the staining properties of four kinds of seaweeds, such as Plocamium telfairlae, Gigartina tenella, Gloiopeltis furcata and Chondrus ocelatus. For the dyeing test, cotton, silk, rayon, and wool were pre-mordanted with 3% dilution of alum, iron and copper. Using 4 kinds of seaweed extracts, the cotton fabrics were dyed at 80∼90℃, and silk, rayon and woolen fabrics were dyed at 70∼80℃ for 20 minutes. The extract of four kinds of seaweed showed a greater difference in dyeability according to the type of mordants than the type of fabrics and seaweeds. When fabrics were mordanted with alum, its color was not clear, while it was dyed darkly with yellow and yellowish brown in the mordant treatment of iron. When mordanted with copper, it was dyed blue. Overall silk and wool were found to have a good staining properties in the mordant of iron and copper, and silk fabrics were also found to have a good dyeability. When used for the experience of dyeing, it was judged that the dyes would be fine with silk and wool, and that the dyes would be mordanted with iron and copper. In conclusion, it was found that Plocamium telfairlae, Gigartina tenella, Gloiopeltis furcata and Chondrus ocelatus were highly useful for the experiential tourism programs in fishing villages.
