This study investigated the current status of natural dyeing organizations and workshops in Taiwan to collect basic data on natural dyeing workshops in terms of revitalizing local tourism. In Taiwan, a survey found 14 natural dyeing-related organizations registered with the central and local governments. The number of members in natural dyeing-related organizations was highest for those with 5 or fewer members (35.71%), followed by those with 36-40 members, and then tied for third place were those with 26-30 members (14.29%) and those with 56-60 members (14.29%). 33 natural dyeing workshops were distributed across 14 local governments in Taiwan. Of the workshops, the number per region ranged from 1 to 4, with Tainan city having the most with 4 workshops. Among the natural dyeing workshops, the most common type of dyeing involved using a variety of dyes (39.39%), followed by those primarily using indigo dye (33.33%). Workshops with education and experience accounting for more than 51% of their revenue made up 38.10% of the total, while those with sales of dyeing materials and products accounting for more than 51% of revenue made up 28.57%. Therefore, it was interpreted that natural dyeing workshops in Taiwan, by combining hands-on experiences and education, are playing a role as experiential tourism destinations or as tourism content.
