Today, even if the environment of digital typography is getting better, it is a fact that the fundamental typographic problems still have depended on the hand of trained typographers. For example, the appropriate and even spacing between letters has widely regarded as typographer``s sensory domain. By quantitatively calculating the space between letters, this research intend to suggest a solution in terms of the equalized letter spacing which is one of the typographic problems. First of all, in the chapter 2, we drew area comparisons of letters between visual and mathematical. The type body vertically divided into four part in order to execute a detailed typographic analysis. This compares with two part of type body in the advanced studies of Alan and Rita Greer, Jinpyeong Kim and Yongje Lee. And then, a new concept to define the space between letters as ``닿공간`` is proposed. In the chapter 3, for a study of NanumMyungjo``s letter spacing, the body size is analyzed and letterforms`` areas of the ``ㅁ`` series are calculated. Moreover, 216 areas between letters which have arisen in a number of cases are calculated and the difference values between letter spaces figured out. Finally, in the chapter 4, the 216 areas between letters of NanumMyungjo font which is made by 6 types of Korean letterforms are calculated and analysed through table and bar graph. Furthermore, a Study of Letter Spacing in Korean Digital Typefaces compares and research by extending the study of letter spacing between characters of the various Hanguel digital typefaces.
