코로나19 사태 이후 비대면 공정관리에 대한 중요성이 부각되면서 스마트 공장(Smart Factory)에 대한 관심이 계속해서 증가하고 있다. 정부의 디지털 뉴딜 정책이 발표되면서 중소 제조업의 디지털 대전환 시대 및 중소·중견기업의 제조혁신이 촉진되고 있는 가운데, 데이터에 기반한 공장의 전체 생산과정을 통합 관리하는 스마트 공장은 세계적인 블루오션 시장으로 주목받고 있다. 최근 중소 제조 공장에 도입되는 장비들은 공정에 필요한 다양한 데이터를 생산하고 있다. 장비에 부착된 여러 가지 센서들이 현재 생산 중인 품목에 따라 다양한 파라미터 값들로 데이터를 내주고 있는 셈이다. 하지만 아직까지 많은 공장들이 그 데이터들을 흘려보내거나 제대로 활용하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 스마트 공장의 AI 연구기술 개발·적용 사례를 조사하고 제조 분야마다 다른 공정 데이터의 종류, 수집, 예측 방향에 초점을 맞추어 스마트 공장에서의 AI 기술도입의 방향성을 살펴보고자 한다.
