Based on concept and characteristics of metaphor in modern architecture, this study tries to modernly reinterpret the thought of metaphor in space. Jean Nouvel, a France architect understands a switch of immaterial as architecture use emotion and lets places enlarge communication method into metaphor. He thinks architecture is not static but newly creative and constantly changeable, resulting in making value, and he expresses metaphor in architecture in his works. Through his works, therefore, the meaning of metaphor is reinterpreted to singularity in modern architecture. Based on metaphor in art and architecture, character in his works shows create various meaning, expand infinitely to loss of guard, mix of virtual and reality, play of changing meaning, and shape materiality of epidermal. Thus, it draws ten molding words; various factors, communication with exterior, flexibility of space, ambiguity of guard, difference, imagination, identity, singularity, unexpectedness, and a variety of views. Likewise, metaphor makes a building to expand and create of meaning in modern architect.
