Muryangsa temple, built during the Shilla dynasty 1400 years ago is one of the representative temples in theChungnam province with Magoksa and Suduksa temple. It is currently in excavation finding the old relics of the original temple. The Geuknakjeon hall is estimated to be a two storied building with many national treasures, treasures and historical contentsrelated with Kim Shisup but is lacking with exhibition facilities making it difficult for cultural events related with the artifacts. Therefore, this study has the purpose to plan an exhibition center for a Buddhist museum and Kim Shisup Literature Museum,. For this plan, through various field trips to other Buddhist museums there was an analysis of the merits and demerits andapplied a new definition as a ‘Han-ok’ exhibition style Buddhist museum which is known to be the biggest weakness fortoday’s Buddhist museums. This study for the Muryangsa exhibition center is applying traditional housing architecture with amultipurpose cultural space defining it to a ‘Han-ok’ style exhibition center which could result as an alternative new criterion forthe design of Buddhist museums.
