Purpose The Purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of props on posture, balance and gait for participants with rounded shoulders. Methods A total of 45 participants were selected for this study. The participants were considered to have round shoulders with a measurement of at least 2.5cm from a flat surface to the posterior surface of the acromion. The participants were randomly divided into three groups of 15. Group A performed a prop exercise program consisting of a foamroller exercising lasting for 50 minutes. Group B performed a prop exercise program consisting of TheraBand exercising lasting for 50 minutes. Finally, the control group performed a stretching stability exercise program. All three groups performed their exercise program ten times for a total of 500 minutes. Pre and post treatment measures were taked for posture, balance and gait. Results The results of our study showed a significant change in right shoulder joint angle within each group; however, there was no significant difference between groups. There was a significant difference between groups according to shoulder height with Group A showing the most effect, followed by Group C. Conclusion According to our results, foamroller exercises were considered the most effective on roundshoulder with regard to shoulder height. However, foamroller exercises produced no significant differences in balance or gait. Therefor we suggest future experiments should adjust the duration of the treatment period to allow more time for foamroller exercise to affect the other measurements such as plantar pressure, balance and gait.
