The purpose of this paper is to re-examine the life and academic world of Choi Chung(崔沖), who was active during the Goryeo Dynasty. Koryo was invaded three times aaording to the Kitan(거란). As a result, the education of the government schools was not immune from the poor, which resulted in a great deal of private school. Choi Chung's Munheon Gongdo(文憲公徒) has overwhelmed and replaced government studies. This is because Choi Chung has established a sound academic tradition based on Confucian ideology and spirit. Choi Chung was not only a top authority in the Confucian academic circles but also a member of the political circle. Choi Chung's the nine school played a decisive role, among other things, in overcoming the slump in Confucianism and making it a success. Choi Chung was praised as 'Haedong Confucius.' The school, which was founded with the focus on promoting and nurturing education for Confucius study, did not lead to a decline in government education. Rather, it is important that the government has encouraged the revival of public studies and provided a foundation for it. Choi Chung's Koojae Hak-dang(九齋學堂) was the most representative private school. Choi Chung's clean, noble character and academic attitude were well reflected in the backward education. He devoted himself to human education through the establishment of Confucian living ethics and the interdisciplinary connection between life and death. This can be credited in that it has contributed little to the settlement of Goryeo Confucianism and the development of our culture.
