The study of exhibition design, the method of content spatialization specially, is needed to keep pace with change of museum exhibition which is offering various social topics or planning an exhibition with unique point of view. This study examined one of those methods, 'Phenomenology of Perception of Merleau Ponty. The spatial concept suggested by Merleau Ponty is that the exhibition area where the contents are recognized and accepted through action as a visiting could be a base of attractive thoughts in a similar vein. To conduct the study, the expression elements were extracted from four concepts of Ponty which are 'top and bottom', 'depth', 'movement', and 'experienced space' and the target exhibition was studied based on the extracted results. The object of study is a special exhibition titled "Sejong city 2005-2015’ ; Remarkable transformation and distant memories" which was opened twice recently. This special exhibition is based on the results of two research studies conducted by the museum research team over a past decade. Therefore, the project is comprised of a plan that is strongly implied stories of "Time", "Space", and "Events", and the exhibition space also reflects the characteristics of these contents.According to the study result, the phenomenological conception could be a good basis of reason to plan an exhibition and its spatialization. In addition, it was also found that the area where elements of phenomenological expression were applied could support experiences of visiting which consist of visitors' body movement and total thoughts.
