This study set out to examine the mediating effects of social sense of community on influential relations between the school life adjustment of children from poor families and their mental health and check whether their structure would cause differences between poor and non-poor families. For these purposes, the investigator used the data of 1,808 elementary school students from the panel data of "2015 Survey on the Actual State and Improvement Measures of Sharing Activities among Children and Adolescents" collected through the 2017 archive of children and adolescent data. The data analysis results show that children's mental health, which were depression and aggression, had negative effects on their adjustment to school life and social sense of community and that their social sense of community had mediating effects between their mental health and school life adjustment. The multi-group analysis results reveal that there were differences between the structural model of social sense of community mediating the mental health and school life adjustment of children from poor families and that of children from non-poor families. There were, in particular, differences between poor and non-poor families in the route of mental health influencing adjustment to school life. These findings imply that a plan of heightening the social sense of community can be considered as a measure to enhance children's adjustment to school life along with their mental health and that there is a need to set an intervention strategy for their school life adjustment especially through intensive supports for children from poor families.
