Objective: Oral hygiene state of the orthodontic patient is very important to decide the success for the treatment. The trial for the oral hygiene improvement by use of power induced electric tooth-brush has been performed, in order to guide as one of the recommendation for orthodontic patient. Methods: Sixty adult volunteers as 19 male and 41 females of fixed type of orthodontic dental patients were participated in this clinical test, and divided them with 2 groups as experimental and the control group. Sonic power induced electric tooth-brush was supplied to experimental group and general typed orthodontic tooth-brush was served to control group to use after toothbrushing instruction by each, and Gingival index, Plaque index, Patient Hygiene performance and oral micro- organism examination as the type of micro-organism, amounts and the motile of micro-organism were performed at before test, 2 weeks later, 4 weeks later and 8 weeks later, by a trained dentist and a dental hygienist. The data were analysis and compared with the experimental group and the control group. Results: Oral micro-organism was decreased for the amounts and a motile in experimental group (p＜0.05), otherwise no significantly different in control group (p＞0.05), by time passing. Such index as plaque, gingival index, PHP and calculus were decreasing tendency in experimental group (p＜0.05) and different with the control group (p＜0.05). Conclusion: Sonic powered electric tooth-brush was recommended to use for orthodontic dental patient in order to improve the oral hygiene of them.
