Growing number of older adults makes politicians focus on development of policies related with the elderly population. Not only aging affects older adults physically but also it changes language comprehension ability. Older adults have difficulty processing sentences with complex syntactic structures due to decreased working memory capacity and inhibition skills. In addition, aging in sensory processing makes a challenge for older adults’ language processing; presence of background noise and fast speech rate. Therefore, for effective and efficient communication with older adults, along with simple and unambiguous sentences, enough contextual information, and adequate conversational environment should be provided. Therefore, this study attempts to provide information about language in aging that should be considered to those who develop and administer political policies for older adults.
