Star Trek Ⅴ: The Final Frontier is distinctive of the theme that the Enterprise crew meet God. Also, it attacks religious fanatics’ wrong belief and can be extended to the topic of teleology vs. non-teleology. As a result, this film concludes that the divine entity with one voice and many faces proves to be created or imagined by humans, not omniscient or omnipotent. That is, the real God is elsewhere, not behind the great barrier, Eden. The purpose of the paper is to observe this movie under the assumption that Sybok is for teleology and Kirk for non-teleology in light of Plato’s and Aristotle’s metaphysics, Carl Jung’s psychology and analogize it with John Steinbeck’s To a God Unknown. After this, I analyze this film based on Ed Ricketts’s non-teleological thinking method. Irrespective of religious discussion, this research reveals that Star Trek, which has been a representative American cultural icon nearly for half a century, is on the side of non-teleology.
