Spirituality is regarded as the most affective solution to the prolems of the society. Even if the concept of spirituality started from religion, now its meaning has been growing. It is discussed in various field such as education, economics, politics, philosophy, and sociology. Human beings share the feeling to be connected with god and universe. When people experience marvelous and miraculous things, one's transcendence shines. Sacred thinking and actions appear in life. Some people devote oneself for the common goods of others who they don't know at all. This is the basic concept of spirituality. People are born with spirituality and grow it. It creates ontological questions and gives answers. It can be learned through contemplation and experience. In education, spirituality is important not only it changes the goal of education but also it is the source of education. Educating the common concept of spirituality makes the holistic person who is free from social pressure, responsible for his work, and devoted to others. Being free means to be able to choose what he truly wants besides social status and economical reward. By understanding oneself as sacred and universal being, the one get the motivation to work hard to change the world as a better place. Since contemplation and knowledge is not enough to educate spirituality, experience is widely used. Dance education requires one's holistic participation of body, mind, and soul. Dance awakens sensory feelings and develops motor skills. Dance integrates spirituality, intelligence and sensibility. For this reason, dance education and spirituality education share some common aspects. First is embodied consciousness. The human cognition is made up of its action and experience followed by the environment. Cultivating spirituality has to come along with action of the body. Dance is the process of action with one's mind and body. Soul exists in the center of the self. Sometimes, dance teaches us to realize the presence of god and universe that is in me and with me. Experiencing this powerful and transcendant self can transform our insight of the world. By having embodied consciousness, the one can unite mind and body, sensibility and rationality, reasoning and insight. Second is self-realization and practicing. Self realization is the concept of Jung who saw 'self' as the holistic combination of consciousness, unconsciousness and transcendant self. Spirituality education draw hidden possibility of 'self' to the highest level. Effort and practice have to follow. Dance education requires practicing. As a result of practicing and immersion, one's consciousness, unconsciousness and transcendence shine. One can develop individuality that shares universal feeling. East Asian religion, philosophy, and culture has affected the creation of traditional Korean dance. The dance shares the modern concept of spirituality. Through reviewing the traditional but spiritual concept of spirituality, I draw five spiritualistic characteristics of Korean dance. Those are unity, hamony, mindfulness, resolving from repression, and illumination.
