The purpose of this study is to (1) find the effect of self-directed microteaching using mobile devices and (2) recognize the feedback of this type of microteaching among teacher trainees then making suggestions for more effective microteaching methods based on the results. For this purpose, the video clips of English teacher trainees in their 4th year were recorded using mobile devices and self-evaluated. Participants’ perceptions on microteaching using mobile devices were further investigated. The main results of this study are as follows. When comparing the scores of the first and second self-evaluation categories, it was found that there is a significant difference between categories of “inducing interest and clarifying the learning goal and topic,” “gesture and eye contact with the student,” “encouraging mutual interactions and communication between students,” and “teacher’s confidence leading to a well-flowing lesson.” Also, in the descriptive evaluation interaction with the students, self-confidence, eye contact, and gesturing were improved in the second evaluation compared to the first one. The use of mobile devices gave rise to positive feedback from the English teacher trainees.
