Based on an analysis of the International Input-Output Table Korea-China (2000, 2010, 2013), this paper focuses on changes in Import dependency structure of the Part Material Industry between Korea and China from 2000 to 2013. Considering the industrial structures of the two countries and the structure of the trade between them, special attention was paid to the Part Material sectors, which were analyzed on the basis of a more detailed industrial classification than the other sectors. In particular, we measured the Leontief inverse multiplier and backward linkage effect between Korea and China, which provided a foundation for studying the structure of Koreas heavy dependence on China-made Part Material inputs. The empirical results showed that Korea depends quite heavily on imported Part Material from China, particularly in the machinery industry. The results also showed clearly that China is gradually reducing its on Korean-made Part Material. This implies that the technology gap between Korea and China has gradually narrowed throughout the sample period.
