The purpose of this research is to explore early childhood teachers’ perception on the play of young children with disabilities through metaphor analysis. For the purpose, 202 teachers who are working in the day care center or kindergarten in the city of Busan were the participants for this study, describing the reason and presenting the metaphor about the perception on the play of young children with disabilities. The results of this study are as follows. First, a total of 192 teachers’ metaphors on the play of young children were drawn as 157 metaphors in the categories of 10 themes. The characteristics of play were classified as everyday life, pleasure, pureness, diversity, difficulty, and individual support. And the function of play was classified as growth, learning, communication, and self expression. Second, in the characteristics of play, the theme with high frequency was the individual support(20 teachers, 10.4%), showing that the play of young children with disabilities perceived by early childhood teachers needs the attention, observation, and care with individual approach. In the function of play,the theme with high frequency was the growth(42 teachers, 21.9%), meaning that a total of 33 metaphors shows a play as an important factor affecting on the development and growth on the play of young children with disabilities. Based on the results, the discussion and implication were suggested in terms of providing the related services and the institutional services for supporting early childhood teachers working the inclusive setting for young children with disabilities and their peers.
