The translation of literature often raises important problems of interpretation. But within the scope of translation, the translation to another language of poetry was always notable for its complexity. There is a widely extended topic of considering poetic language as intraducible, since we should not focus only on words, but also on the essence and soul of a genre, such as poetry, which has sometimes been labeled as something magical, ethereal and impossible to translate. Therefore, when we translate poetry we must bear in mind that the resulting text will not be an identical text to the original version, but a text transformed and adapted to the characteristics of its new readers. Poetry is more difficult to translate than prose, but also, if translation tasks are carried out between two extraordinarily distant languages, such as Korean and Spanish, the difficulties increase significantly. That is to say, such a translation work does not only require mastering the literal translation by the translator, but also requires a complete understanding of the regionalisms and connotations of the language of the source text and that of the target text. Through the study of the Spanish translation of 하늘 우체국 – Casa de Correos Celestial (2019) by the poet Soo-Bok Kim, a series of considerations and strategies are proposed to address this type of translation.
