This paper focuses on the aspects of diasporas of the trasnational adoption in Jane Jeong Trenka’s The Language of Blood. Trenka’s memoir recalls her memories and experiences as a transnational and transracial adoptee and tries to search for the fundamental elements which have caused her unstable identity and double consciousness although living as an American citizen. The diasporas of the transnational adoption tend to have several characteristics but Trenka’s diasporas have the instinct of returning home in Korea. Through meeting her birth mother in Korea, she managed to resolve her conflicts and sufferings of loss. The Language of Blood is the expression of Trenka’s mourning for her birth mother’s death and also she regards it as her duty which is what she has to restructure on the life story of her family. The Language of Blood is a literary text in that it gives a critical message of forgiveness, friendship, and unity as well as it urges us the national consensus on the abolition of the transnational adoption.
