In this study, the antioxidant activity and protective effect of Salvia plebeia herb ethanol extract (SPE) on SH-SY5Y cells induced by oxidative stress was investigated. As a result, the total phenol content was 35.94 mg GAE/g and total flavonoid content was 50.44 mg/g in SPE. SPE showed strong DPPH radical scavenging efficacy at concentrations of 100 μg/mL and 200 μg/mL, showing 89.13% and 88.27%, respectively (IC<SUB>50</SUB> : 18.66 μg/mL). SPE also scavenged ABTS radical in a dose-dependent manner.
