Reincarnation was not originally found in China, but was introduced to China with the introduction of Buddhism along with the statue of Yun, and was circulated after the translation of Buddhist scriptures. In China, hell and reincarnation were an important topic in the process of accepting the concept of reincarnation, and only after that was it accepted by many people. In Chinese novels, the story of reincarnation appears from the inter-Korean period of Weijin, and the content is clearly distinguished from the ancient history of living again in hell or the ancient history of separation of spirits. Since then, the concept of reincarnation has continued to play a major role as a key plot in a single essay or work, or as a component of the central narrative structure of writing, and it is more meaningful in that reincarnation narrative is very popular in modern cultural content. In this article, we analyzed the aspects and meanings of the reincarnation motifs in Chinese traditional period novels and considered their significance. In addition to the development of reincarnation motifs by time, we also looked at the understanding of reincarnation exams and their relevance to religious acceptance. Furthermore, the reincarnation motifs were analyzed for modern modifications and implications.
