Lu You’s Rushuji depicts a 158?day itinerary of his traveling going up against Chang?jiang river by boat during the period of his travel in which he left his hometown of Yue?Zhou Shanyin?Xian(now Zhejiang?Sheng Shaoxing?Shi) on May 18th, 1170, and arrived at Kui?Zhou(now Chongqing?Shi Fengjie?Xian) on October 27th, 1170. Of the work, vol. 2 of Rushuji shows the itinerary from July 1st to July 16th, and seen from the perspective of the administrative district of China as of now, he left Jiangsu?Sheng and entering Anhui?Sheng on July 11, 1170. He records in detail where he passed, whom he met, and what relationship he had with them during these 16 days. In addition, he tours the famous sites and reveals its historical origins or closely testifies to the world’s misunderstanding. Lu You, who lived in the era of Southern Song dynasty, where traffic had not developed like that of these days, did not neglect his record even on a difficult journey. By completing the Korean translation of his work, Rushuji which has not yet been translated in Korean, I intend to serve as a small stepping stone not only for Lu You’s literary studies, but also for researching Chinese travel and customs, geography and culture. I tried to translate it as close to the original text as possible, and mark with parentheses with a bit of paraphrase the part where the Korean language is not naturally compatible, and various codes are indicated in the same way as the original script.
