COVID-19 has been spreaded all over the world for almost ten months. Due to the virus epidemic outbreak, tourism industry had a lot of financial damage. Therefore this study is focused on finding out the impact of the virus spreads on tourism industry in Korea and suggest the helpful way to overcome this difficulty. To accomplish the study purpose, we analyzed the growth rate of the number of foreign tourists according to outbreaks of three epidemics such as H1N1, Mers-CoV, COVID-19. And it is also that the growth rate of tourism income and tourist expenditure were analyzed to find out the difference among them. As the result of analysis, there were significant differences in the growth rate of the number of foreign tourists by nationality, sex, age and the visiting purpose. The growth rate after H1N1 outbreak was the highest of them. Also the growth rate of tourist expenditure was increased after H1N1 outbreak much more than two other epidemics. Conclusionally the epidemic outbreak had an affect on tourism industry severely. Therefore the government and tourism firms should cooperate to shut out the epidemic quickly and minimize the damage. It would be helpful to make private tours for small groups and quarantine rooms as a hotel substitute product to improve the management performance for tourism firms.
