Biopharmaceuticals became prominent in the fields of industry, investment, and job market, showing high success rate in clinical trials, high development efficiency, and promising market values.
The benefits of antibody drugs include a wide range of accessible antigens, high target specificity, various mechanisms, the rate of success development as high as 15%, and the possibility for industrialization. The benefits are proven effective in market when antibody drugs dominated drug sales in 2019, taking up two thirds of the top 15 drugs. Initially antibody drugs were developed as a group of IgG variants, but more than 1,800 antibodies were in their research and development (R&D) phases by 2017 and within the next few years the R&D activities spawned a huge diversity of platform-based designs supported by multiple configurations and new scaffolds.
