The purpose of this article is to understand the research trends of the Goryeo Dynasty by examining academic papers published in 2019 and 2020.
For this purpose, 428 papers are collected through 〈Korean History Research Compendium〉 and their analysis are focused on keywords.
The analysis results can be roughly divided into the following four trends. First, there are many studies on national rituals. Second, studies on Buddhism, including the Tripitaka Koreana, have been conducted in various aspects. Third, many studies have been produced on the relationship between Goryeo and Mongol empire. In addition, various discussions were held in detail, such as the Goryeo-Mongol War, diplomatic relations between the two countries, and efforts to secure king’s power under the influence of the Mongol empire. Fourth, a lot of research has been done on the space of the palace and the capital, Gaegyeong.
