This study approached warcore fashion as a social phenomenon and analyzed the design of the warcore trend appeared in domestic and foreign fashion products over the last five years from 2016 to 2020. To proceed with the research, first, the design elements of cases where “warcore” was mentioned were analyzed. Secondly, based on the fashion-forming factors, a classification was carried out according to the environment of the clothes-wearing era. Third, the expression characteristics of the warcore trend were derived. The warcore trend was shown in various ways in the form(silhouette, detail), color, fabric(material, pattern), and items of clothing, and based on this analysis, the findings were as follows. Warcore design was divided into four types: “pursuing rationality in design,” “design as a medium,” “value-oriented design,” and “universal design.” Moreover, the expression characteristics of warcore fashion were derived as follows: “projection of polarity,” “generalization of trans-boundaries,” “return to the past,” and “symbols using similes.” According to the results of this study, the recent warcore trend has the general characteristics of utility clothing but shows differences in tolerance and sustainability. These results are expected to help predict fashion trends and plan practical fashion products meet the needs of consumers in the post-coronavirus era.
