Background/Aims
Lymphorrhea and seroma are the most common complications of mastectomy in patients with breast cancer. To reduce postoperative complications, meticulous hemostasis and lymphatic ligation technique are necessary. Advanced energy devices, which include electrosurgical bipolar systems or ultrasonic shears, are widely used in various surgeries. An electrosurgical bipolar device can help surgeons grasp and dissect tissues, as well as simultaneously ligate and cut vessels and lymphatics, during surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of advanced electrosurgical bipolar devices in reducing postoperative lymphorrhea and seroma after mastectomy in patients with breast cancer.
Methods
This study was a prospective randomized clinical trial with a 1:1 ratio that compared the use of an electrosurgical bipolar device, LigaSureTM (LGS), against conventional cut-and-ligate techniques in mastectomy with axillary procedures for patients with breast cancer. ... 전체 초록 보기
