Background/Aims
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC) for resectable liver metastasis from colorectal cancer(CRLM) is being increasingly accepted as an effective treatment, as it might increase the resectability of the hepatic lesions and treat micro-metastases. For patients receiving NAC, however, chemotherapy-associated liver injury remains a concern and is associated with a poorer short-term prognosis. Moreover, one study reported that the addition of targeted agent to neoadjuvant chemotherapy for resectable CRLM is not recommended. Therefore, whether neoadjuvant chemotherapy is appropriate for patients with resectable CRLM remains controversial.
The objective of this study was to compare the oncologic outcomes of the patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NEO group) prior to simultaneous resection with simultaneous resection without neoadjuvant chemotherapy(SG group).

Methods
Patients who underwent treatment with curative intent for resectable CRLM between 2009 and 2019 were included. CRLM resectability was defined as tumors that could be removed with clear margins leaving greater than 30% of residual liver parenchymal volume regardless of tumor number or size.
