Purpose
The grade C postoperative pancreatic fistula following pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) is one of the most common causes of reoperation. However, the details about severe POPF leading to reoperation have not been well studied. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the incidence, and the outcomes of reoperation with POPF and analyze the characteristics of patients.
Method
From 2008 through 2017, a total of 3944 patients that underwent PD were reviewed retrospectively. Demographic data, preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative factors were collected and analyzed.
Result
Among 3944 patients that underwent PD, the rate of re-operation is 8.3% (n=329). Tumor recurrence is the most common cause of reoperation in 99 patients (30.1%).
