Introduction
Nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM), which has been widely performed in recent years, is a therapeutic method that has improved cosmetic and psychological outcomes for women with breast cancer. This study evaluated oncological safety of NSM with immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) in terms of disease-free and overall survivals.
Methods
A total of 614 patients who underwent mastectomy with IBR between January 2010 and December 2017 at Severance Hospital were enrolled. The patients divided into two groups: total or skin-sparing mastectomy vs. NSM. One hundred thirty-seven patients underwent NSM with IBR and 477 patients underwent total mastectomy (TM) or skin sparing mastectomy (SSM) with IBR.
