This study aims to contribute to infinite development of beauty art by making an analysis of formativeness of the “Pouf” hairstyle invented by Léonard Autié, the hairdresser of the royal palace during the Rococo period through a systematic academic inquiry into beauty art, to further apply as a basic academic material based on improved creative artistic value. As for the research methods, this study inquired about the historical background of the Rococo period based on literature data and classified the formative characteristics of “Pouf” hairstyle of Léonard Autié into ornamental features, hyperbolic features (exaggeration) and pleasure features. Through this process, this study analyzed each formative expressive feature in terms of the form, balance, rhythm and emphasis. According to the research results, the Pouf hairstyle representing the Rococo period was used in a variety of areas regardless of materials including the personal collection, thus, bringing about an abundance in formativeness and increase in artistic value. This study confirmed that the “Pouf” hairstyle had led to high completion of hairstyle as well as improvement of artistic value. This study expects that the study results can contribute to creating diverse and sophisticated creative artworks and serve as helpful data for progress of beauty art.
