This study aims to study the influence of local attachment on food tourism and tourism intention, and to find out how the mediating role of food tourism plays in the relationship between local attachment and tourism intention. A survey method was conducted using convenience sampling for consumers who are between 20s to 50s or older and have experienced in food tourism in the Gangwon region. The survey was distributed on July, 2019, and 300 copies of the questionnaire were distributed and 291 copies of valid data were employed for analysis excluding questionnaires that did not meet the purpose of current study. The multiple regression analysis was performed using the statistical package SPSS 21.0 for hypothesis verification after data coding and data cleaning. The research results are as follows. First, local attachment has a significant effect on social bonds and self-expression, but it has a partial effect on individualistic tendencies. Second, as a result of verifying the relationship between food tourism and tourism intention, social bond and self-expression have a significant effect on tourism intention, but personal orientation did not. Last, the local attachment has a positive(+) effect on tourism intention. Based on these research results, it is expected that if the Gangwon region develops and promotes differentiated food and culture contents to increase the local attachment, then it will increase the tourism intention through food tourism.
