The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of college dance professors’ teaching behavioral types over their students’ achievement goal tendencies and thereby, provide some useful information to the college dancer majors. For this purpose, the researcher sampled those who had majored in dance at 4 universities in Seoul and thereby, conducted a questionnaire survey. A total of 328 responses were used for the final analysis. The data collected thus were processed using the SPSS version 18.0 for descriptive statistical analysis, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation coefficient analysis and multiple regression analysis. This study can be concluded as follows; First, it was found that such sub-types of the teaching behavioral type as democratic behavior, training and instruction and social support had positively significant effects on the sub-factor of students’ achievement goal tendency such as assignment tendency; While the sub-type of students’ achievement goal tendencies or their ego-tendency was affected significantly by professor’s democratic behavior, training and instruction and social support, it was affected negatively by the type of the positive reward. Based on the above results, this study discussed diverse suggestions about professor’s teaching types improving students’ achievement goal tendency.
