Report Errors
Modern tourism began with the emergence of railways and colonial policy that visualizing and experiencing Japan"s superiority. Modern tourism grew further through active public-private efforts such as the Governor-General of Joseon(Korea) and the Travel Associations. With the prevalence of modern tourism, Joseon"s craftworks were manufactured as tourist souvenirs that reflected Joseon"s sceneries and customs.
The modern tourism converted Joseon"s craftworks into Omiyage(土産品, おみやげ), or tourist souvenirs. Tourist souvenirs were used as a medium for remembering colonial tourism. Nevertheless, it is meaningful that modern craftworks brought a modern result of the emergence of industrial craftworks which produced in industrial system.
