The aims of the essay are to consider the consciousness of Korean of Sejong and its scholars in the literature related to the creation of ‘Hunminjeongeum’(訓民正音) and the meaning of ‘jeongeum’(正音), and to clarify historicity of consciousness of Korean and it"s aspect in the early modern. The consciousness of Korean and it"s aspect in the early modern is as follows. First, The consciousness of Reestablishing the status of ‘Gukeo’(國語) and ‘Hanmun’(漢文). Second, the consciousness of establishment of standard sound and grammar. and third, the consciousness of the unity of speech and writing. This consciousness of Korean is very similar to that of consciousness of Korean of Sejong and its scholars in the literature related to the creation of ‘Hunminjeongeum’(訓民正音) and the meaning of ‘jeongeum’(正音). the Korean language is defined as ‘Korean’ by separating Korean and Chinese, and the standard sound was established, and form the unity of speech and writing. This shows that the two periods of Korean consciousness are closely related, and This Korean consciousness of ‘Hunminjeongeum’(訓民正音) exert a strong influence on the formation of on the modern of Korean consciousness in the early modern.
