The environment has an important impact on children"s growth and development. In particular the Children’s Museum is a place where children"s sensibility and curiosity can be stimulated, educational effects can be experienced, and growth needs can be satisfied. The purpose of this study is to analyze the perceptual and psychological aspects of the use of colors in the exhibition space, which is an element that composes the environment of a children"s museum. The subject of this study was the War Memorial Children"s Museum, which is an institution that has been excluded from previous studies, although the frequency of visitors is high among national and public children"s museums in Korea. The method of this study is a case study method of previous studies. In addition, Photoshop CS6 and Pixelate were used to review the previous research on color in the Children"s Museum and to analyze the color distribution map of the War Memorial Children"s Museum. And for the perceptual analysis of color, a color picker and Munsell Conversion System tool were used. For the color psychological analysis, this study used the psychological response factors for colors in the US environmental standard and the psychological analysis criteria for color use by Alshooter and Hattwick. As a result of perceptual and psychological analysis of the colors used in the War Memorial Children"s Museum based on the extracted color values, the overall colors used in the exhibition space seemed appropriate when considering the contents of the exhibition and the characteristics of children. However, in some exhibition spaces, the use of colors that put more emphasis on the contents of the exhibition allowed children to experience the exhibition experientially. Through the use of appropriate and effective colors in the exhibition and the experience space of the Children"s Museum, a place where children"s creativity and potential can be improved, it is expected to be an important factor in the growth and development of children in various areas such as intelligence, body, psychology, and emotion.
