In this study, the purposes of this study were to investigate the correlation between fasting and health through the analysis of health and diet conditions according to the form of fasting in Korean adults and to recognize the impact on health and diet. The number of 17,352 samples to the 7th (2016~2018) National Health and Nutrition Survey were selected for the final study. While men were found to have a higher rate of fasting in the morning, women were more likely to have lunch and dinner groups (p<0.0001), and those employed with higher household income and higher education levels (p<0.0001). Drinking and smoking have a high correlation. The higher the frequency of smoking and drinking, the higher the rate of fasting (p<0.0001). Also, the lower the stress, the higher the PHQ-9 score and the higher the rate of fasting (p<0.0001). The lower the BMI level or the further away from normal blood test levels, the higher the rate of fasting (p<0.0001). These results confirmed that fasting and health are related, and it was meaningful that they could be provided as basic data to recognize health problems caused by fasting and seek action plans. In addition, increasing adult fasting rates could be used as data to proactively prevent possible health hazards and thereby reduced social costs. Based on the above results, continuous monitoring of adult fasting rates is required, and practical nutrition education is required to improve adult dietary conditions through social discussions.
