Low-molecule polypeptide and Polypeptide (PPT) which is obtained by hydrolyzing keratin, collagen, and silk are used to prevent hair damage and protect the hair during the perming process.
Despite many prior studies, researches and specific data on the pre-treatment of polypeptide such as keratin, collagen, silk, etc. in wave formation and maintenance as well as hair protection effects during the perming process is still lacking.
Therefore, in this study, collagen polypeptide 1:2 treated and untreated, was classified into wash group of reducing(deoxidating) agents during general, magic, and direct perm process. In addition, has compared and analyzed the wave formation rate, wave retention rate, and inner diameter of ring.
On a collagen polypeptide non-treated and pretreated damaged hair, a cold perm(general perm) and heat perm(direct and general perm) was done, and as a result of visual observation and examination of wave formation and retention rate obtained by measuring the total length of hair and inner diameter of ring, collagen polypeptide pretreatment was found to have higher wave formation and retention rate than non-treatment. On the other hand, reducing(deoxidating) agent non-treatment was found to have better wave formation and retention rate. The wave formation rate of general perm was better than that of direct perm and digital perm, but the retention rate was better for heat perms; direct and digital perm. Hence, collagen polypeptide pretreatment in damaged hair has excellent effect in forming and maintaining waves, which is considered highly useful in industrial field.
