This study attempted to figure out the effects of Amaranthus spp. L extract-added ample on the mitigation of hair damage at digital perm on virgin hair after applying it softening before, softening and after winding. The test found that AW was the best in terms of wave formation with 26%. According to measurement of hair thickness, AW (0.9435 mm) was found in an experimental group where hair was as thin as virgin hair (0.0449 mm). In terms of moisture contents, AM was the highest with 0.10%, followed by AW (8.09%), AB and NA. In terms of tensile strength, a slight difference (0.4 gf/mm2) was found between virgin hair (129.11 gf/mm2) and AW (128.70 gf/ mm2). According to absorbance measurement using a methylene blue (MB) staining method, AW revealed the lowest damage with 84.02% when the control group ‘NA’ was 100%. The observation of hair surface found that AW has clear scale and constant intervals. According to surface analysis, AW was the highest with 12.84% while NA was the lowest (9.37%)in terms of sulfur contents which have an effect on cystein bonding in the hair. In the measurement of hair shine, virgin hair revealed 3.27 GU. e In the experimental group, AW was the highest with 3.15 GU. The study results found that amaranth ample has a significant effect on the mitigation of hair damage at digital perm. In terms of when the ample should be used, ‘before winding’ appears to be the best in maximizing the effective ingredients of Amaranthus spp. L extract.
