This study discusses problems of the current Vietnamese Hangeulization System and provides an alternative version of it through correction and supplement. It is important to clearly identify target of hangeulization. It should be noted that all Vietnamese words to be hangeulized should be written by the official Vietnamese writing system. Scrutiny of the structure and contents of the Vietnamese Hangeulization System confirms that a vague perception of the roles and functions of the letters representing glides and vowel nuclei in the Vietnamese writing system leads to the confusion and convolution of the hangeulization of Vietnamese monophthongs, diphthongs, and triphthongs. Lack of consistency in applying Vietnamese phonological processes to the hangeulization system also provides peculiar examples of Vietnamese loanwords. This study is significant in that it compares the current Vietnamese Hangeulization System and a revised version which accommodates correction and supplement.
