Oman has seen the following of Ibadi Islam. Oman has a unique religious policy. It holds an emphasis on peaceful intra-Islamic and inter-religious coexistence. Thus, it is not allowed to have sectarian conflict. Compared to other Muslim countries, they have encouraged a neighborly living together in unity for the sake of Muslim community.
Moreover, as massive economic development has led a modern society in Oman and has increased educational opportunities, especially for women, they are motivated to engage in a labor market with increased societal recognition as well as expansion of various opportunities. However, the influence of tradition and Arab tribal culture have not changed the culture‘s attitude toward women. Thus, they have challenged the gap between tradition and modern society in daily life.
Therefore, the purpose of this study explores how Ibadi’s unique characteristics, contexts, and religious policies are revealed in Oman. In addition, it examines how these characteristics have an influence on women’s attitude. As a result, this study helps us to better understand Muslim women’s role and status in Oman and presents how we effectively approach them.
