The purpose of this study was to investigate the capitalization of Olympic medals by professional athletes by applying Bourdieu"s concept of capital, and to investigate the capital reproduction of symbolic capital. The research question according to the research purpose is: First, how do professional athletes capitalize on Olympic medals? Second, what kind of capital is the Olympic medal reproduced for professional athletes? In order to solve the research problem, five professional athletes who won medals at the Olympics were selected as research participants. In order to enhance the understanding of Bourdieu"s capital concept, professional athletes, and Olympic medals, data were collected through related literature collection and in-depth interviews. The collected data was analyzed using a qualitative analysis method. The results of this study are as follows. First, the symbolic capitalization of the Olympic medal appeared as a symbolic capitalization of the International organization and the Olympic medal, the physical ability and the symbolic capitalization of the Olympic medal, and the nobility and the symbolic capitalization of the Olympic medal. In the symbolic capital and capital reproduction of the Olympic medals, the reproduction of the symbolic capital of additional power, the reproduction of an unspecified number of social capital, the reproduction of the cultural capital of the institutional aspect, and the reproduction of economic capital of salary and additional income appeared. Olympic medals were used in many ways because they had more than just institutionalized cultural capital provided by the Olympic Committee, were effective in reproducing capital, and acted effectively in the aspect of solidification of class power and social mobility.
