This research investigates the Chinese United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO) troop deployment and argues economic-security interests are the main driving factors of its UNPKO deployment. Among the number of different economic-security interests, natural resource securement from the dispatch destination is found as Beijing’s main economic-security interests. Quantitative analysis with panel regression modeling from 2001 to 2018 is used as a primary research methodology and the case studies on six different countries, (1) the Democratic Republic of Congo, (2) Lebanon, (3) Liberia, (4) Sudan, (5) South Sudan, and (6) Mali are examined to supplement the quantitative analysis. The results suggest that Beijing deploys more peacekeepers to the countries where it imports natural resources and the peacekeepers are mobilized to secure them.
