The Japanese record “Documents on Joseon Tongsinsa” by the Japanese news agency dispatched to Japan in the late Joseon Dynasty is a vast documentary written by Tsushima Domain for later testimony. There are over 400 books in the Japanese University Library, 124 books in the University of Tokyo, and 1,157 books in the National Institute of Korean History. “Documents on Joseon Tongsinsa” is distributed as a microfilm, but it is still not readily available. So far, there have been precedent studies that mentioned “Documents on Joseon Tongsinsa” in an overview, but studies examining the composition or editing process have been insufficient.
In this article, I looked at the appearance of how editing of Documents on Josen Tongsinsa was made through a document written by Ginzo Ajiki, who was in charge of drafting the Documents on Josen Tongsinsa of a news agency in Mujin (1748). The changes in the composition of the Documents on Josen Tongsinsa were examined in The List of Documents on Josen Tongsinsa in Imsul (1682), Sinmyo (1711), Gihae (1719), Mujin (1748), and Gyemi (1763). The composition of Documents on Josen Tongsinsa was changed from the form edited according to the passage of time as the meandering progressed to the odorous form punctured according to the classification of matters. I also considered Staff of Tsushima Domain who ware thought to have written a record that underlies the draft. In order to make the documents, not only “Yuhitsu(佑筆)” who was a member of the family who was engaged in writing, but also another Staffs had to make many documents. A draft was prepared through the process of confirming to them based on the records they had written, and the sentiment was completed by completing the draft.
