The aim of this study is to determine the effects of safety management system on safety consciousness and behaviors of flight attendants. In an attempt to find solutions to the increasing occurrences of aircraft defects and accidents and in-flight illegal activities, this study empirically analyzed the importance of safety/security education related to these problems. Based on existing studies, five components of cabin safety management system were deduced: safety manual, safety training/education, management culture of safety participation, upward safety communication and safety promotion policies. A research model and six hypotheses were established based on these five components and the causal relationship between safety consciousness and safety behaviors was verified. For empirical analysis, a survey was conducted from September to October of 2019 with flight attendants of K Airlines. A Survey Out of 220 copies of questionnaire that were distributed, 206 copies were used in the final analysis. The collected data were processed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0, and statistical significance was judged based on significance level of 5%. As a result of analyzing the data, it was found that safety training/education, management culture of safety participation, and safety promotion policies have influence safety consciousness and have a significant effect on safety behaviors. Based on these research results, it was concluded that defining and examining cabin safety management system is meaningful in deducing elements that promote safety consciousness and voluntary safety behaviors of flight attendants and in obtaining practical implications that will contribute to the establishment of aircraft cabin safety.

본 연구는 객실 안전관리체계가 객실승무원의 안전의식과 안전행동에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구로 최근 들어 항공기 기체결함, 항공기사고, 기내불법행위(흡연, 폭행)들이 이에 관련된 안전/보안 교육의 중요성을 알아보기 위해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 기존의 선행연구를 토대로 객실 안전관리체계(안전매뉴얼, 안전훈련교육, 경영진의 안전참여문화, 상향적 안전의사소통, 안전보상제도)를 5가지 구성요소를 도출하였다. 이 5가지 요소를 바탕으로 연구모형과 6개의 가설을 수립하였고 안전의식과 안전행동의 인과관계에 대해 검증하였다. 본 연구는 객실 안전관리체계의 개념과 구성요소들을 체계적으로 검토하고 K항공사의 객실 안전관리체계 구성요소 중 승무원에게 안전에 대한 경각심을 심어주고 자발적 안전행동에 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인지를 밝힌 연구이다. 실증적인 분석을 위해 국내 K항공사 객실승무원을 대상으로 2019년 9월부터 10월까지 총 220부의 설문지를 배포하고 이 중 유효한 206부를 분석을 위해 사용하였다. SPSS 21.0와 AMOS 21.0 프로그램을 활용하여 유의수준 5%를 기준으로 통계적 유의성을 판단하였다. 그 결과 안전훈련교육, 경영진의 안전참여문화, 안전보상제도의 요소가 안전의식에 영향을 주고 있으며 안전행동에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 객실 안전관리체계와 구성요소들을 정의하고 살펴보는 것은 상당한 의미가 있으며, 이를 통해 객실승무원의 안전의식 고취와 자발적 안전행동에 영향을 미치는 요소들을 도출하여 항공기 객실안전 확립에 기여할 수 있는 실무적인 시사점도 얻을 수 있을 것이다.
