JATCO newly developed CVT (Jatco CVT-S) for mini vehicle which is applicable for start and stop system without electronic oil pump to improve fuel economy. Adopting start and stop system without electronic oil pump has concern about reacceleration from engine stop condition. The reason for concern about re-acceleration is that the pulley ratio does not shift to lowest pulley ratio and the hydraulic pressure response becomes slow because hydraulic pressure of mechanical oil pump is not generated when Engine is stopped by Start and stop. There were two strategies for re-acceleration performance. 1) Pulley ratio should be shifted to lowest pulley ratio before vehicle is stopped by start and stop system activation. To shift pulley ratio to lowest pulley ratio, we changed lock up releasing condition to lower vehicle speed to delay engine speed drop timing. 2) The pressure of pulley and clutch should be quickly charged to transmit engine power to make faster launching of vehicle after the engine is restarted. If the amount of oil in the pulley and clutch remains although the oil is flowed backward or leaked by stopping mechanical oil pump, response of hydraulic pressure will be faster after engine is restarted. So, we adopted a flapper valve in between oil-pump and control valve. And, a low-leak seal-ring on pulley system is adopted that is same measure with Jatco CVT7.
