The status of school physical education is increasing day by day. However, elementary physical education is losing its identity as curriculum in between the two extremes of play and sports. In this study, it is thought that the expansion of school physical education focuses on 'doing' ironic that causes crisis of elementary physical education. The purpose of this study is to examine the epistemological framework of the learning and experience of the theories in the field of physical education and to examine its educational meaning. First, it examines the four theoretical concepts of physical education: movement approach, impressive intelligence, teaching game for understanding, and physical literacy. Second, the meaning of physical education is reexamined from an epistemological point of view(holistic approach of experience, interactive experience construction, extensibility of experience) to suggest the direction of physical education suitable for elementary school students. These considerations will provide ideas for teaching physical education as curriculum. Therefore, it is expected that it will provide a little clue to solving the problems that occur in the physical education class at the elementary school.
