Silkworm chrysalis(SC) has been used for the health especially to nourishment, hypoglycemia, anticancer, anti-aging, skin moisturizing, wrinkle removal, and etc. SC oil contains unsaturated fatty acids such as α-linolenic acid, omega-3 fatty acid. Concentrating process increases rate of omega-3 in SC oil (Patent No.10-0764928, 2017). In this experiment, we examined collagen synthesis and the inhibition of collagenase activity using concentrated silkworm chrysalis(CSC) oil. CSC oil increased the synthesis of collagen in a concentrationdependent manner. The inhibition of collagenase activity was also showed a similar pattern. Also clinical trial for wrinkle improvement was carried out with CSC. Cream containing CSC oil was applied to lower eyelid, lateral areas of 23 subjects for 8 weeks. The changes of the skin wrinkle were evaluated by two clinicians and skin replicas were analyzed by skin visiometer. The R values, which means roughness showed improvement of anti-wrinkle effect significantly. The treatment of SC oil seems to ameliorate the wrinkle production.
