With the increase in the use of PCs and mobile media, it is widely believed that TV is giving its dominant position as a visual media to other devices. This paper addresses this issue from a new angle, dealing with it in the domestic context where the benefit of mobile media, that is mobility, is limited. After reviewing the factors that have been studied to be influential on the use of TV, PC, and mobile media, variables which include individual factors, household factors, device characteristics, content types, and viewing context were specified from the 2017 KISDI Korean Media Panel survey data. Then we analyzed which factor affected the level of domestic TV, PC, and mobile viewing. The results show that TV is highly related to factors such as age, screen size, subscription to pay-TV services, and the degree of staying at home alone. It was confirmed that users whose viewing content is mainly movies, videos, or UCC have a higher percentage of domestic PC and mobile viewing than users with high use of terrestrial real-time content. Overall, TV is highly related to traditional determinants such as personal factors and viewing contexts, while PC or mobile media is dependent on non-linear content. Implications are discussed in terms of the use of TV, PC, and mobile media in the domestic context.
