In the new era, existing industrial facilities were deteriorated. This is perceived as a factor that hinders the image and environment of the surrounding area within the city center and remains unmatched by the lives and places of the city people. As a result, a renewal policy was newly enacted in 2017, and more diverse and more renewable spaces began to be created. Among them, many cases of recycling idle industrial facilities into cultural spaces appeared. However, most cases were conducted by benchmarking overseas cases or were limited to structural and architectural aspects such as preservation, expansion, and transformation of buildings. Therefore, this study intends to propose a method of applying up-cycle design expression elements by analyzing the space plan of the art platform to recognize and reproduce these problems. In addition, it proposes a new space by giving insufficient design elements to the reproduction space through up-cycle design characteristics such as historicity, eco-friendliness, variability, scarcity, and publicity. In the end, the art platform through up-cycle design reflects the up-cycle design characteristics that were not seen in the existing art platform, and can unravel the design expression elements derived above into space, which can have a great effect on creativity and art promotion. Moreover, it combines elements that include the memories and traces of the place with the design characteristics, and results in being reborn as an art platform that can achieve regional revitalization.
